An Evening with Dane Tilghman
6:30 PM – 8:30 PM
at Newtown Public Library
Come meet Dane Tilghman, purchase an original painting, and visit the Library’s book sale during an “Evening with the Artist Dane Tilghman” at Newtown Public Library on August 3rd from 6:30-8:30 p.m.! All of Dane’s artwork is for sale, and he can be reached directly by email at DaneDTA@aol.com.
A generous professional, Dane is an artist who gives back, and during this exhibit, Dane has donated a stunning floral painting to support the Newtown Square Library. This big, beautiful centerpiece can be perfect for a home or office – and will be available to bid on at the library throughout July and August.
Celebrated Artist and Jazz Musician Dane Tilghman’s vibrant paintings are being exhibited at Newtown Square Public Library this July and August. As a premier painter of African American Art, Dane’s work has been sought after by collectors worldwide – from Nelson Mandela to the Baseball Hall of Fame Museum in Cooperstown, N.Y. His mural commission paintings are visible at sports stadiums like Citizens Bank Park, Philadelphia, Turner Stadium, Atlanta, and Texas Stadium, Dallas.
This show includes many extraordinary paintings – like “Church Picnic” which was featured in Sylvester Stallone’s 2015 movie “Creed!”
Dane’s fine art exhibitions span environments like Longwood Gardens; the African American Museum, Philadelphia; Howard University; Butler Institute of Fine Art; the University of Pennsylvania – and now – the Newtown Square Public Library
Dane’s paintings reflect his love of music, baseball, (his six-foot “Music Phanatic” statue was at the Kimmel Performing Arts Center during the 2010 baseball season), diverse culture, and landscapes. But whatever the topic, Dane’s artwork is recognizable. He easily moves from realism to a stylish combination of surrealism and spiritual ethos. He connects with his characters, and lets their energy move through the paintings. They are engaging, colorful and warm. His portraits of famous musicians are extremely popular at Blues & Jazz Festivals, and our local Paoli Blues Festival is lucky to have Tilghman art grace their publicity every year!
