French & Indian War Skirmish and Camp at Colonial Plantation

Become an eyewitness to history, as the Colonial Pennsylvania Plantation becomes the backdrop for scenes from the French and Indian War. It’s the French and British fighting for control of the frontier. Watch the local militia, led by a Rodger’s Ranger, discover a French raiding party and witness the skirmish, which follows. Visit the French and British campsites. Talk to the soldiers about their uniforms, weapons and strategy for fighting in the wilderness of the frontier.
There will also be cooking, woodworking and other everyday activities of the colonial time period. Refreshments and souvenirs may be purchased.

As owner of the Philadelphia Bee Company, Don the beekeeper will share how bees work, what beekeepers do, and why the pollinators are so important to people and the environment. You and your family will enjoy live bees and other props, photos, and an interactive waggle dance!
This program is family friendly, however, the content is designed for ages 5 to 100.

Glenolden’s Summer Kickoff Fireworks
7 PM – 10 PM
at Interboro Baseball Field ( off of Hillcrest Ave., right behind the South Ave Sports Complex)
Music and games start at 7 p.m. DJ Steve Skalish and “Gamesmaster” Ed McCarron will be hosting your favorite races, including the sack race and shoe race, with prizes for the winners.
Fireworks go off at nightfall (usually between 9:15 and 9:30 depending on sky conditions). Skyshooter Displays will be providing the show to dazzle you and your family. While you can see the aerial show all around Glenolden, the baseball field is the only place you can get the full experience complete with synchronized music and ground effects.
Food and beverages will be sold to benefit Glenolden Scout Troop 44. 3 Brothers will also be on hand selling water ice.
